Delhi’s daily average air quality index (AQI) today achieved 206 (‘poor’ category), according to the daily AQI bulletin provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The sub-committee met today to take action under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in ncr and adjoining areas as the average/overall air quality of Delhi was recorded in the ‘poor’ air quality category between 201-300 and reviewed the current air quality situation in Delhi-NCR. This was observed when conducting a comprehensive review of the air quality conditions in the region and imd/IITM forecasts and delhi’s air quality index:

New Delhi: Delhi’s AQI is on the rise due to changing surface winds and adverse weather conditions in Delhi-NCR. Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 24.03.2025 (in the ‘poor’ category) at 206. Imd/IITM has predicted that the AQI will remain in this range.

The unanimous decision of the sub-committee on GRAP

According to the unanimous decision of the sub-committee on GRAP, all the 27 works envisaged under Stage-I of GRAP – ‘poor’ air quality (Delhi AQI between 201-300) – will be implemented properly by all agencies concerned in the NCR immediately. In order to ensure strict implementation of phase-I work under GRAP during this period, various agencies in charge of implementing the measures under GRAP, including the Pollution Control Board (PCB) of ncr state and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), have been addressed.

Further, the sub-committee has urged the citizens of NCR to cooperate in implementing the GRAP and follow the steps mentioned in the Citizens Charter of the first phase of the GRP as follows:

Keep the engine of the vehicle properly tuned.

Maintain proper tyre pressure in the vehicle.

Keep your vehicle’s PUC certificate up to date.

Don’t make the vehicle obsolete, turn off the engine at red light. Stringently enforce emission norms in thermal power plants; take strict action against non-compliance, enforce court orders on firecracker bans, ensure regular disposal of industrial waste, minimize DISCOMS power interruptions in NCR, prohibit diesel generators as primary power sources, enforce the ban on coal/firewood in tandoors, mandate clean fuel in eateries, disseminate pollution information via social media and apps, ensure prompt complaint redressal on apps, and encourage unified employee commutes to reduce road traffic. read more
