“Surviving on today’s battlefield is not about being the fittest, but about those who adapt, change and position themselves and take advantage of emerging opportunities,” said Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad. He was addressing the future strategic leaders studying in HDMC-20, a high defence management course on the challenges of navigating the complex security sector of the 21st century.
In his address, General Anil Chauhan highlighted the importance of adaptation, stability and visionary leadership between rapidly changing global energy dynamics, non-conventional threats and technological advancements to effectively address contemporary and emerging security challenges. The CDS stressed on the need for a whole-nation approach towards a coordinated response and stressed on the role of the Indian Armed Forces in shaping the country’s national security strategy.

During the visit, General Chauhan interacted with faculty and curriculum participants, including officers from friendly foreign countries, and expressed his views on the importance of promoting innovation, experimentation and cooperation among defence establishments to move forward in an evolving strategic environment.
