Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare will launch the third edition of ‘Nai Chetna – Pahal Badlabh Ki’, a national campaign against gender-based violence, at The Rang Bhavan Auditorium of All India Radio at Sansad Marg, New Delhi on November 25, 2024. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annapurna Devi will also attend the event in a joint effort of the Government to eradicate gender-based violence.
Organised by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development, the campaign will run across all Indian states and Union Territories till December 23, 2024. The initiative, led by the extensive Self Help Group (SHG) network of DAY-NRLM, reflects the spirit of mass movement.
The campaign is a collaborative effort in the spirit of the “whole government” approach and will involve nine ministries/departments like ministries.

Since its inception, Nai Chetna has brought millions of people across the country together, promoting an important movement for gender equality and women’s empowerment. While the first edition was attended by 3.5 crore people, Nai Chetna 2.0 had 5.5 crore participants across 31 states and Union Territories participated and over 9 lakh awareness programmes on gender-based violence were held across the country.
The objectives of ‘Nai Chetna 3.0’ are to create awareness about all forms of gender-based violence, encourage communities to speak up and demand action, provide timely support systems and empower local institutions to act decisively against violence. The campaign’s slogan “Ek Saath, Ek Awaaz, Violence Ke Khilaf” reflects the challenge of taking collective action through coordinated efforts by embracing the entire society and the entire society। read more
