The Home Minister appealed to all states and Union Territories to implement the advisory issued by the NDMA for flood management on time. He directed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Central Water Commission (CWC) to complete the recalibration process of all the equipment used in flood forecasting at the earliest. Shah directed the concerned departments to conduct a detailed study on the recent floods in Sikkim and Manipur and submit a report to the Home Ministry. He directed to ensure that the flood gates of all major dams are in good condition. Mr Shah said the CWC’s flood monitoring centres should be of our requirement and international standards.
