The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperatives, Shri Amit Shah, today attended the 60th Raising Day Parade of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Jodhpur in Rajasthan as the Chief Guest. Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BSF Director General Shri Daljit Singh Chaudhary and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

In his address, the Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, there has been a major change in the security scenario of the country and the contribution of BSF jawans will be written in golden letters. He said the BSF has strengthened the country’s first defence system through courage, bravery and sacrifice in six decades. He said the BSF has faced all challenges along the border and has empowered the country’s first security line. Shah highlighted that since December 1, 1965, the BSF has a remarkable record in securing the eastern and western borders of the country. He added.

Without the BSF, which has grown from 25 battalions to 193 battalions today at the time of its inception, it would be impossible to meet the growing security needs of the country, he said. Shah highlighted that bsf is the largest border guarding force in the world with 2.7 lakh personnel. Even in 2024, the BSF maintained a record of combating fake currency, narcotics, infiltration and Left Wing Extremism through various operations. As many as 1,992 BSF personnel were martyred in the country’s first defence line and 1,330 of them have been awarded medals till date. These include one Mahavir Chakra, six Kirti Chakras, 13 Vir Chakras, 13 Shaurya Chakras, 56 Sena Medals and 1241 Police Medals.

Every move, struggle and victory of these soldiers instills confidence in the country that India cannot be unbeatable and defeated. He credits this sense of incompetence in the hearts of 1.4 billion Indians entirely to the soldiers protecting our borders.
