The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will participate in the International Abhidhamma Diwas celebrations and recognition of Pali as a classical language at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, at around 10 a.m. on October 17. He will address the gathering on the occasion.

Abhidhamma Day commemorates the descent of Lord Buddha from the heavens after teaching Abhidhamma. The recent recognition of Pali as a classical language along with four other languages has added to the significance of this year’s Abhidhamma Diwas celebrations as Lord Buddha’s teachings on Abhidhamma are essentially available in the Pali language.

Educationists and monks from 14 countries and a significant number of young experts from various universities of India will participate in the International Abhidham Diwas celebrations organised by the Government of India and the International Buddhist Federation. read more
