The NCBC has suggested to the Central Government to include some castes/communities of Maharashtra in the central list of OBCs
The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) had on October 9, 2024 suggested to the Central government to include (1) Lodh, Lodha, Lodhi. (2) Badgujar, (3) Suryavanshi Gujar, (4) Leve Gujar, Rev Gujar, Reva Gujar; (5) Dangri; (vi) Bhoyar, Pawar (7th) Kapewar, Munnar Kapewar, Munnar Kapu, Telanga, Telanga, Telanga, Telangi, Pentareddy, Bukekari caste/community in the Central List of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the State of Maharashtra.
A two-member bench of NCBC comprising Hon’ble Chairman Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Hon’ble Member Shri Bhuvan Bhushan Kamal heard the inclusion in Mumbai on October 17, 2023 and July 26, 2024. The final decision to advise the central government to include the above mentioned castes in the list of central OBCs for the state of Maharashtra was taken on October 8, 2024. read more
