The Ministry of Women and Child Development today organized a post-budget webinar, in which the policy measures taken by the government to increase women’s participation in the labour force and the budgetary allocations announced for women-led development were given.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annapurna Devi, in her inaugural address, highlighted the government’s commitment towards women-led development. “Under the able leadership of the Prime Minister, it is our endeavour to ensure that women remain physically and mentally fit, their skills are enhanced, employment opportunities are increased, respect will increase and they become self-reliant,” he emphasised. Our continued endeavor is to provide quality child care facilities in a safe environment for children’s nutrition, health and knowledge development and to help working mothers build their careers.

The Central Government have allocated Rs 3.3 lakh crore for the welfare and empowerment of women

For the financial year 2024-25, various ministries/departments of the Central Government have allocated Rs 3.3 lakh crore for the welfare and empowerment of women. This allocation will further enhance the efforts of ministries/departments towards increasing women’s participation in the workforce, ensuring women’s safety and taking steps towards establishing an ecosystem of working women’s hostels and crèches.

Secretaries of the Ministry of Women and Child Development and representatives of the United Nations Women, World Bank etc. spoke about the salient features of the Union Budget on Women. Some state governments shared about the best practices and innovative ways adopted to provide hostel and creche facilities to working women.

The webinar was attended by stakeholders from all states/UTs in a big way. The event held at Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi was made available online through https://webcast.gov.in/mwcd.
