The Indian Coast Guard has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the private sector to enhance indigenous material in shipbuilding.

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi for supply of indigenous marine grade steel to enhance indigenous materials in shipbuilding. Through this partnership, both the organizations are committed to promote indigenization as well as to increase efficiency for the production and consumption of related items in the interest of the country.


The MoU was signed by Deputy Director General (Materill & Maintenance), ICG IG H K Sharma and Chief Marketing Officer of JSP Shri S K Pradhan in the presence of senior officials of ICG.

The MoU emphasizes the importance of public-private partnership in meeting complex security and its challenges. At the same time, he stressed on the need for cooperation between government agencies and the private sector. In order to commit shipbuilding yards for timely supply of marine-grade steel for ICGs, the MoU also has a number of important facilities, including quality, grade and measurement, including steel plants earmarked for product production.
