The Home Minister, in his address, said that The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has taken a number of steps for the preservation, dissemination and widespread use of Indian languages, which has become an era dedicated to the protection and dissemination of Indian languages from 2014 to 2024. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, five more Indian languages have recently been given the status of classical languages. India is the only country in the world where 11 languages have been recognised as classical languages.
The Union Home Minister said that PRIME Minister Modi has increased the importance of Hindi by expressing his views at every international forum in Hindi. The availability of engineering, medical, primary and secondary education in Indian languages has created a conducive environment for the development of all the languages of the country. Mr Shah said this is a motivational shift towards language development in India

Shri Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, three major initiatives have been taken in the last five years to empower Hindi. He mentioned that the first big step was the creation of the Hindi word Sindhu dictionary. He expressed confidence that Shabsindhu would become the most comprehensive dictionary in the world in the next five years. Mr. Shah said that the formation of the Language Commission of India (Department of Indian Languages) is the second important step. Shri Shah said that we cannot progress unless we strengthen all Indian languages. He noted that the department has initiated efforts to use technology for translation. The Union Home Minister further said that the third major step is to organize official language conferences in different parts of the country, which will make it easier to understand the importance of official languages.

The ‘Kendriya Hindi Samiti’ is the apex body that provides guidelines for the promotion and progressive use of Hindi. The role of this Committee is to coordinate the works and programmes being implemented by various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India for the development and promotion of Hindi.
