The President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, appointed Shri Sheel Nagu, Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.

Speaking at the International Innovation Conclave organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in New Delhi, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal said prime minister Narendra Modi’s government is ready to promote the drone industry which has seen rapid growth in the last three years. Appreciating the development and growth of technology in the drone industry through innovation, Shri Goyal said that the development of drone ecosystem and deploying it in villages across the country is in sync with the Prime Minister’s ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative which will help in empowering women in the field of agriculture

The minister said the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone components is a kickstar for the progress of the sector and should not be considered as a permanent subsidy scheme by the government. “In the third term of the Prime Minister’s administration, we will work at three times the speed, ensure three times the results and hope to become the third largest economy in the world,” the Union minister said
The Union minister said SIDBI can be assisted to promote the sector to finance and advise the drone ecosystem.
He added that with the help of the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, the cooperative sector, self-help groups (SHGs) and farmer producer organisations (FPOs) have the potential to contribute as a shared advantage in distribution of fertilisers and reducing wastage and expenditure of farmers. The Union minister said SIDBI can be assisted to promote the sector to finance and advise the drone ecosystem.
Talking about the startup ecosystem, the minister said 18 initial public offers (IPOs) were offered in the first half of 2024 and 17 IPOs were awarded in 2023. Goyal added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the country has seen huge investment of foreign investors and there has been a massive push on infrastructure. He added that the primary objective of PM Modi’s government is to ease norms and enable compliance burden on startups as well as ease of doing business (EODB).
