President attends 14th convocation of Devi Ahalya University

The President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu attended the 14th Convocation of Devi Ahalya University at Indore, Madhya Pradesh today (September 19, 2024)

The President exhorted the students that Convocation Day is an occasion of celebration and to take a firm resolve for their future.

Speaking on the occasion, the President exhorted the students that Convocation Day is an occasion of celebration and to take a firm resolve for their future. He said most of them must have decided which profession they were going to take up or where they were going to pursue higher education. But most of them need to be confused about getting a job or studying further, becoming entrepreneurs or preparing for competitive exams. He advised them to think about their future and take a decision. This decision will determine the direction of their lives.

Every student will have different skills, the President said. Decisions about which field or position they will work in the future should be based on their skills and interests. He advised never to stop the process of acquiring knowledge. He urged people to use their knowledge and latest technology to promote inclusive development and be aware of sustainable development

The President said that the University is named after Maharani Lokmata Devi Ahalabai Holkar of Indore whose life is a great example of women empowerment. During her life and rule, she made many innovative and successful efforts to empower and make women self-reliant. He took decisions to ensure livelihood of tribal society and did a lot of work for their development. Her life is an example of how women can revolutionize all spheres of political, social, economic and spiritual. He was delighted that the number of girls medal winners was higher than that of boys at the convocation as per the ideals of Maharani Devi Ahliabai.

The President urged all educational institutions and teachers to encourage girls to take up higher education and become self-reliant.
