Online nomination/recommendation for Padma Awards 2025 to be announced on Republic Day, 2025 has started from today. The last date for submission of nominations for the Padma Award is September 15, 2024. Nominations/recommendations for Padma Awards will be accepted online at the National Awards Portal (https://awards.gov.in).
Padma awards like Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri are among the highest civilian awards of the country. Established in 1954, the award is announced every year on the occasion of Independence Day. The award is given for outstanding and outstanding achievement/service in all fields/departments like arts, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, civil service, commerce and entrepreneurship etc. All persons irrespective of caste, profession, rank or gender are eligible for this award
Other than doctors and scientists, government employees working in state-owned enterprises are not eligible for the Padma award.
The government is committed to making the Padma award a ‘People’s Padma’. Hence all citizens are requested to nominate/recommend including self nomination. A concerted effort can be made to identify talented individuals who have rendered selfless service to women, weaker sections of society, Scheduled Castes and Tribes, differently-abled persons and society.
Nominations/recommendations should contain all relevant details as specified in the format available on the above portal, including an example (maximum 800 words) in narrative form, which clearly demonstrates the outstanding and exceptional achievements/services of the recommended person in their respective fields/disciplines.
