NHRC, India’s two-week online short-term internship ends

Smt. Vijaya Bharti Sayani, Acting Chairperson urged the interns to carry forward the wisdom gained during the programme to promote and protect the human rights of every person.

It was attended by 52 students from different universities of the country.New Delhi: A two-week online internship programme organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has come to an end. It started on November 18, 2024. As many as 52 students from various universities in different parts of the country and remote areas have completed it.Speaking at the inaugural session, Smt. Vijaya Bharti Sayani, Acting Chairperson, NHRC, India congratulated the students for successfully completing the internship with the Commission. He expressed hope that the interns will carry forward the wisdom gained by this programme to promote and protect the human rights of every individual.He encouraged them to develop as human rights defenders and make meaningful contributions to building a more inclusive and equitable society. He emphasized the importance of representing empathy, compassion and strong commitment to justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

Shri Bharat Lal, Secretary General, Indian, NHRC in his address said that interns should reflect the lessons achieved in their work for human rights. He encouraged interns to work actively towards internalising core human values, upholding ideals of brotherhood and equality, and bringing about positive change in the society.Mr. Nim announced the winners of book reviews, group research project presentations and lecture competitions.
