India needs to become a developed country in terms of sustainability: Shri Goya.

The government is willing to assign areas to MSMEs in 20 townships being built across the country. MSMEs are an integral part of large business and industrial growth. Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, said this in his address at the Assocham: India @100 Summit in New Delhi today.

Stating that MSMEs are important for supporting large industries in their ecosystem, the Minister noted that he would talk to the states that he would focus on providing MSMEs with areas for development of their businesses in townships and industrial parks. He added that MSMEs can be provided land at subsidised rates for the development of their business in the city.

Speaking on the theme of the summit titled "Promoting India's Global Progress

the Minister reminded the participants of The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Panch Pran’ – developed India, eradicating the colonial mindset, taking pride in our heritage, unity and integrity and collective duty towards the nation. Referring to the passage of the Boilers Bill 2024 in the Rajya Sabha yesterday abolishing colonial-era laws, Goyal noted that under the present government, swift steps are being taken to promote ease of doing business by simplifying the process, reducing the compliance burden and decriminalising the laws that help msmes in the country.

The Minister highlighted the growing consumer system in the country that India needs to become a developed country because of sustainability. We cannot promote waste,” he said. Goyal reiterated his stand and said that emerging and developing countries are facing environmental degradation due to developed counters.

Talking about the government's welfare schemes on food security, water, electricity and digital connectivity

Shri Goyal mentioned that these programmes are offered to citizens without discrimination on the basis of religion, caste and creed. He added that demanding reservation on the basis of caste census and religion has crossed its ultimate life. He pointed out that the motivation to make India a great nation should encourage every service provider to work more efficiently, pointing out that citizens have to raise their voice against corruption and delays in processes.

Highlighting that the government is keen on skill development, Goyal said that an outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore has already been announced and there is a need to steer the initiative into a public-private-academia partnership. He urged the educational institutions to include industry in the curriculum.
