On May 18, 2024, to mark the successful completion of the training of The Indian Air Force’s Special Forces ‘Garuda’ commandos, the Maroon Beret ceremony parade was held at garuda regimental training centre (GRTC) at Air Force Station Chandinagar. Senior Air Staff Officer of Western Air Command Air Marshal PK Vora was the reviewing officer for the parade.

The review officer congratulated the Garudas for the successful completion of their training. He stressed on the need for rigorous training and capacity building of special forces to keep pace with the changing security situation. He presented maroon berets, garuda skill badges and special forces tabs to the successful Garuda trainees and also presented trophies to the meritorious trainees. The best all-rounder’s trophy was presented to Flight Lieutenant Shashwat Rana.

At the ceremony, garudas displayed combat firing techniques, hostage rescue, firing drills, attack explosives, obstacle-par drills, wall climbing, cutting, rappelling and military martial arts.

The Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade is an important event that marks the end of a highly demanding training schedule. These newly passed trainees have further strengthened the operational capabilities of the Air Force by entering the Elite Garuda Force.
