Leaders of 120 member countries to attend 7th session of International Solar Alliance Assembly in New Delhi

The seventh session of the ISA will be held in New Delhi from November 3 to 6.
New Delhi: The International Solar Alliance (ISA) met in New Delhi today for the seventh session of the State Legislative Assembly. Representatives from 60 countries attended the event.
The meeting will be chaired by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy. The seventh session of the ISA assembly is going to be a truly global event. The ministers, missions and representatives of the 120 member and signatory countries, as well as partner organizations and partners, will come together to focus on measures to improve energy availability, safety and change.

Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy and President, ISA Legislative Assembly addressed the glorious gathering and said, “THE ISA has evolved as a major platform for global solar cooperation, which now comprises 120 member and signatory countries. This growing commitment demonstrates the critical role of solar energy in tackling our shared energy availability challenges and the adverse effects of climate change. The progress made by the member states of the ISA in the adoption of solar energy is remarkable. In some of our member states, solar energy, available throughout the year and in abundance, has the potential to be a game-changer in the theatre of global climate action. Its quality of being transparent, reliable, free and easily accessible to all makes it the focal point of achieving universal energy availability. Our efforts through the ISA focus on expanding solar infrastructure, creating green jobs, supporting livelihoods and mitigating climate impacts.The seventh session of the International Solar Alliance Legislature, co-chaired by the President of the Republic of India and co-chaired by the Republic of France, will be held from November 03 to 06 November 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India. Ministers, mission heads and senior government officials from 120 member and signatories, potential countries, partner organizations, private sector and key stakeholders will participate.

Mr. Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary, MNRE, Government of India, in his opening remarks, noted, “Global solar deployment presents its challenges: investment, infrastructure and indigenisation. Addressing this challenge requires targeted efforts to support the expansion of the sector. Highlighting the role and substantial contribution of isa, he said, “The ISA creates opportunities to diversify the global supply chain and increase solar energy demand by addressing these challenges through various programmes, initiatives and collaborations with governments, private enterprises and international organisations and working with its member countries. Elaborating on this important effort, he added, “We are proudly conducting 120 counts among our members and signatories, including the ratification of 102 ISA Framework Agreements, reflecting our growing global influence. With the strong support of the member states, the ISA successfully accelerated solar production.Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General, International Solar Alliance, said the International Solar Alliance is a leader in global efforts to achieve sustainable development goals in affordable and clean energy and climate action, especially in SDGs 7 and 13. The International Solar Alliance is a force of change. It coordinates and organizes the demand for solar finance, technology, innovation, research and development, and skill development. The move is not just an alliance; It is a revolutionary movement reshaping our energy sector and the future of our planet. “This session of the ISA Assembly is an important step towards speeding up our work and enhancing our aspirations at a time when we are approaching the goal of the last five years to achieve the goals set out in the 2030 agenda,” he said.
