Indian Navy ship visits Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia

the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Indian High Commission in Malaysia.

As part of the Operational Deployment of the Indian Navy, two Indian Naval ships led by Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet R Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar have arrived at Kota Kinabalu in Delhi and Shakti Malaysia. The ships were accorded a warm welcome by the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Indian High Commission in Malaysia.

During the port call, personnel of the Indian and Malaysian navies will participate in various professional discussions, including subject matter expert exchange (SMEE) sessions, yoga, sports schedules and cross-deck visits, which will further strengthen the existing mutual cooperation and understanding between the two navies.

After the completion of the indian navy’s ship visit to the port, royal malaysia will participate in maritime partnership exercise (MPX)/passex at sea with the naval ships. The aim is to increase the degree of interoperability between the two navies reiterated in the recently concluded Milan 2024 and East Sea Lakshmana 2024.

The visit will further strengthen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two maritime neighbours through multiple contacts and activities. The deployment of IN ships in this vital area also shows the Indian Navy’s strong commitment to the Government of India’s ‘Act East’ and Sagar policy.

INS Delhi is the first indigenously designed and manufactured Project-15 class guided missile destroyer and INS Shakti is a fleet support ship, both ships are part of the Indian Navy’s eastern fleet.
