The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in and around ncr on the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court implemented GRAP Stage III on 29.01.2025 when the average AQI of Delhi started rising rapidly and crossed the 350 mark on the same day.

According to an AQI bulletin issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), delhi’s average AQI has improved significantly as the day’s AQI touched 286 today. In view of the declining trend in AQI levels in Delhi, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP met today to review the current air quality situation in the region and the forecast of weather conditions and air quality indicators available by IMD/IITM and accordingly take a decision on preventive measures under the third phase of GRAP in the entire National Capital Region (NCR).

Therefore, given the chaotic nature of the restrictions under phase III of GRAP affecting a large number of stakeholders and the public, the trend of improvement in Delhi’s average AQI and imd/IITM’s forecast indicate the possibility of Delhi’s average AQI remaining in the ‘poor’ /lower head ‘very poor’ category in the coming days. The CAQM sub-committee on GRAP today unanimously decided to immediately withdraw all operations under the third phase of the current schedule of GRP across NCR.

In addition, all works under the second and first phase of the existing schedule of GRP will remain in force and implemented, monitored and reviewed by all the agencies concerned across NCR so that the AQI level does not rise further in the coming days. The agencies will keep a close watch to do away with the need to re-implement the third phase of the GRAP Acto and intensify the measures under the second and first phases of the GRAP’s existing schedule. read moreĀ
