The commencement of the Budget Session of Parliament

Ahead of the commencement of the Budget Session of Parliament, 2024, a meeting of the Government with leaders of all political parties was held today under the chairmanship of The Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh. The minister welcomed everyone in the first meeting of the floor leaders of both houses of Parliament after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju in his introductory address informed that the Budget Session of Parliament will commence from Monday, July 22, 2024 and the session may end on Monday, August 12, 2024, under the requirement of government business. The session will have 16 meetings over 22 days. The minister also informed that the session will be mainly devoted to the financial work related to the Union Budget for 2024-25 which will be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. However, essential legal and other actions will also be taken up.

He urged all party leaders for active cooperation and support for the smooth functioning of the two Houses of Parliament. He also said that we should maintain its sanctity during the functioning of Parliament. The government is ready to discuss all these issues as per the rules of the house concerned of Parliament and the decision of the presiding officer concerned.
