DRDO hands over medium range-microwave chaff rocket to Indian Navy

This technology creates a microwave shield around the platform and reduces radar detection.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over the Medium Range-Microwave Chaff Rocket (MR-MOCR)

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over the Medium Range-Microwave Chaff Rocket (MR-MOCR) to the Indian Navy at a ceremony held in New Delhi on June 26, 2024. Microwave Obscorant Chaff (MOC), a special technology developed by drdo’s Defence Laboratory in Jodhpur, creates a microwave shield around the platform and property by blurring radar signals, thereby reducing radar detection.-

The medium-range Chaff rocket combines special types of fiber with some micron diameter

The medium-range Chaff rocket combines special types of fiber with some micron diameter and unique microwave absorption properties. When a rocket is launched, microwave clouds form in space and have enough time with sufficient time, thereby creating an effective shield from adverse hazards seeking radio frequencies.

The first phase of the MR-MOCR test was successfully carried out from the Indian Navy ship

The first phase of the MR-MOCR test was successfully carried out from the Indian Navy ship, which showed the MoC cloud bursting and continuous stay in space. The Indian Navy has proved that radar cross-section (RCS) has reduced aerial target range by up to 90 per cent in the second phase of testing. The number of MR-MOCR has been successfully handed over to the Indian Navy fulfilling all the eligibility requirements. The Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh has lauded DRDO and The Indian Navy for the successful development of MR-MoCR. He termed moc technology as yet another step towards achieving self-reliance in the defence sector.
