Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, today held discussions with global business leaders such as Temasek Holding, DBS Bank, OMERS, Keppal Infrastructure and TVS Motor Company on bilateral trade and investment issues in Singapore.

Shri Goyal arrived in Singapore today (25 August 2024) and participated in the 2nd India Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) to be held on 26th August 2024

During the meeting, important discussions were held on finding and enhancing investment opportunities between India and Singapore with an emphasis on mutual growth and cooperation in various sectors.

The focus was on exploring investment opportunities in India, leveraging the country’s economic growth and promoting cooperation in various fields. The focus of the discussions was on increasing investment, especially in the SMEs sector, enhancing India’s investment climate, supporting sustainable development through decarbonization, and identifying synergies for family-owned businesses in the changing global scenario. These discussions indicate a commitment to strengthen the economic ties between India and Singapore for mutual growth and innovation

The Minister of Commerce and Industry visited the headquarters of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore and ite College Central in Singapore and sought opportunities for cooperation between India and Singapore in the development of the latest educational environment.

The aim of this environment is to equip young talent with future-ready skills to suit the diverse needs of different industries. During the visit, he visited their teaching centres including aerospace and smart manufacturing hubs and gained in-depth knowledge about the philosophy of sustainable education and skill development
