Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperatives Shri Amit Shah presented the prestigious ‘President’s Colour’ to Chhattisgarh Police in Raipur today. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma were among the dignitaries who attended the event.The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperatives, Shri Amit Shah in his address highlighted the immense pride associated with getting the ‘President’s Colour’, which is a recognition of a great pride for any armed force. He lauded the Chhattisgarh Police for achieving the honour in just 25 years of its inception. Shri Shah hailed chhattisgarh police as one of the best forces in the country, famous for its zeal, courage, valour and dedication. He emphasised that getting the ‘President’s colour’ in the year of silver jubilee is a testimony to the forces’ continuous hard work, commitment, bravery and deep-rooted engagement with the people. He lauded the Chhattisgarh Police for its outstanding service in maintaining law and order, combating Naxalism, taking forward the campaign of drug-free India, ensuring public safety and improving the standard of living of the citizens of the state. Mr. Shah acknowledged the force’s point of view.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah said this on the occasion of the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today. He said it was Sardar Patel’s indomitable courage and resolve that united the country. Shri Shah also mentioned that The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, fulfilled the unfinished mission of Sardar Patel by abrogating Article 370, thereby permanently merging Kashmir with India. He added that the entire country is paying rich tributes to Sardar Patel today.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant progress has been made in the fight against Naxalism in the last one year. Security forces have neutralised 287 Naxals, arrested 1,000 and helped 837 naxals surrender. He noted that 14 top-level Naxal leaders were among those killed. Highlighting that for the first time in the last four decades, the death toll of civilians and security personnel in Naxal violence has come down below 100, Shah blamed the Modi government’s tough policies against Naxalism. He added that naxalism has been effectively controlled in the last decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, resulting in a 73% reduction in the number of deaths of security personnel and 70% reduction in civilian deaths compared to previous decades. The Home Minister lauded the Chhattisgarh Police for joining hands with other security agencies to deal a decisive blow to Naxalism.

Shri Amit Shah said that the first ‘President’s Colour’ was awarded to the Indian Navy in 1951 and today any armed force needs to complete 25 years of service to be eligible for this honour. He expressed his gratitude to the President for recognising and honouring the 25 years of service, dedication, sacrifice and commitment of chhattisgarh police.

The Union Home Minister and The Minister of Cooperatives has said that under the leadership of The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government and the State Government are committed to completely eliminating Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026. He urged the Naxals to leave the path of violence and join the mainstream of the society and contribute to the development of Chhattisgarh by moving forward on the path of progress. The Chhattisgarh government has implemented an excellent surrender policy, which provides for rehabilitation of every Naxal who surrenders.

Shri Amit Shah said that Chhattisgarh Police has achieved remarkable success with strong determination in combating organized crime and drugs. Between January 1, 2024 and September 30, 2024, around 1,100 cases of narcotics were registered and 21,000 kg of ganja, 6,000 kg of opium and about 1.95 lakh tablets of illegal drugs were seized. In addition, 1400 people have been arrested in this case. He also noted that Chhattisgarh has been at the forefront of effective implementation of the PITNDPS (Prevention of Illegal Trafficking in Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

The Union Home Minister expressed confidence that every officer and personnel of Chhattisgarh Police will play a key role in realising the dream of a developed Chhattisgarh and prosperous Bastar. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, chhattisgarh’s significant contribution to the journey towards building a developed India by 2047 will be recorded in golden letters, he said.

The Union Home Minister told the jawans of Chhattisgarh Police that the ‘colour of the President’ is not just a decoration but a symbol of service, sacrifice and dedication. He said that this sign is reminiscent of the countless challenges that need to be tackled. Shri Amit Shah said that the ‘Colours of the President’ are not just an honour but a responsibility and every officer of Chhattisgarh Police will uphold this responsibility and not take a step back in performing his duty. read more
