Best Film to be seen in Pune at 18th MIFF

A special festival has been set up for Pune city as the curtains are set to hit the screens for the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival organised by NFDC and The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India.

Special red carpet premieres and screenings of the film have been planned in the cities of Pune, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai to take and introduce the country’s best documentary, short and animation films to the intellectual audience across the country.

Apart from showcasing the filmmaker’s film in Pune, the NFDC- National Film Archive of India in the city will also feature a special screening of ‘Billy and Malli – Ek Otter Love Story.

MIFF will organise various official screenings daily at the NFDC-NFAI

With an aim to bring the best films to the city, the 18th MIFF will organise various official screenings daily at the NFDC-NFAI venue through the festival from June 15 to June 21. In the international competition section to be showcased in Pune, There will be ‘Against the Tide’ by Sarbnik Kaur, ‘Glass My Unfinished Life’ by Rogier Kappier, ‘Karpara’ by Vignesh Kumulai and ‘I Am Not’ by Homer Herman. Apart from this, three Marathi films produced by Ankit Pogula – Bheed Chal, Shubhangi Rajan Sawant’s co-stars Surya Savarkar and Athvanitlya Paulkhuna produced by Suhas Sitaram Karanekar – will be screened in Pune.

The 18th MIFF for Best Film will also present the films of filmmakers from Pune whose films made official selections at the festival. Some of those films include Sainath S. Uskekar’s Gunta Hriday Hai (Jodi) and Cannes Film Festival winner Chidananda Nayak’s “Suryamukhi Mane Knew First”, both of which will take part in national competitions for short story films. Similarly, Arindam Kishore Dutta’s ‘Kankua’ will be screened in the national animation category, Prasad Ramesh Bhujbal’s ‘Fear’ in the national short story competition category and Debesh Ranganath Kanase’s ‘Matara Dongar’ will be screened in the national prism – student short film fiction category. read more
