Army Commanders’ Conference concludes: External Affairs Minister addresses senior leadership of Indian Army

New Delhi: The second leg of the Army Commanders’ Conference concluded in New Delhi today. In this phase held on October 28 and 29, 2024, the senior leadership of the Indian Army deliberated on important strategic issues affecting both border security and the hinterland.

The highlight of the conference was hon’ble Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar’s address on ‘Evolving Geopolitical Scenario and Opportunities for the Indian Armed Forces’. Dr. Jaishankar highlighted the complex global and geopolitical dynamics affecting India and the country’s expectations from the armed forces and the preparedness required to meet the contradictions and challenges of the current world order. He lauded the Indian Army for being vigilant and called upon the leadership to be prepared to deal with the rapidly evolving geopolitical threats and opportunities and stressed on the importance of technological advancements and lessons taken from tourists

Addressing the gathering, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan highlighted the recent achievements of the Joint Commanders’ Conference held in Lucknow. Reviewing the current security situation, General Chauhan stressed on the need for coordination and roadmap in various areas of importance for future wars and effective operations. He highlighted the need for achieving full coordination for joint work, from mutual cooperation to becoming a ‘shared culture’ and finally taking step-by-step steps for joint action. He reiterated the need for managerial readiness to meet emerging challenges, especially with the emphasis on modernization and strategic autonomy as important goals in the framework of Vision 2047.

Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi also addressed the meeting.

The conference concluded with the distribution of prizes to military stations in various categories for green military stations and aviation security and highlighted the army’s commitment to environmental sustainability and security. The award for the Green Military Station was awarded as follows:

Military stations (population >10,000): Patiala (first place) and Jodhpur (second).

Military Station (population 5,000-10,000): Bagrakot (first place) and Bhuj (second place).

Military stations (population <5,000): Kannur (first place) and Umroi (second).

Avshesh Mukt Sainya Abhiyan (Best Waste Disposal System): Sevoke Road (1st) and Pratap Pur (2nd).

Best Changing Stations: Suratgarh (1st place) and Abohar (2nd place).

In the field of aviation safety, 257 Army Aviation Squadron and 663 Army Aviation Squadron were awarded the best flight safety trophy.
