Army Chief General Manoj Pandey reviews passing out parade of NDA's 146th course

Army Chief General Manoj Pandey reviewed the passing out parade of the 146th course of the National Defence Academy at the NDA’s Khetarpal Parade Ground on May 24, 2024. A total of 1265 cadets participated in the parade while 337 cadets from the pass out course participated. They included 199 Army cadets, 38 Navy cadets and 100 Air Force cadets, including 19 cadets from friendly foreign countries including Bhutan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Maldives. Twenty-four women cadets, who were in training in the third and fourth innings, also participated in the parade.

Known as the stepping stone of military leadership, the NDA is the country’s premier joint service training institute. The 146th course was included in June 2021 and the cadets passed out in a grand ceremony after completion of three years of rigorous military training. The cadets will now join their respective pre-commissioning training academics.

Battalion Cadet Captain (BCC) Shobhit Gupta won the President’s Gold Medal by securing the first position in the overall merit, Academy Cadet Adjutant (ACA) Manik Tarun finished second in the overall qualification order, the President’s Silver Medal and BCC Annie Nehra won the President’s Bronze Medal by finishing third in the overall qualification order. The Golf Squadron received the prestigious ‘Chiefs of Staff Banner’ award as the champion squadron presented during the parade.

The Review Officer congratulated the passing out course cadets, medal winners and champion squadrons for their hard work and tremendous performance. He expressed his gratitude to the proud parents of the passing out course for sending their excited children to join the armed forces. He encouraged the cadets to carry forward the sense of alliance as they grow in service and also emphasized about the revolution in military affairs which is largely driven by technology.

Following the passing-out parade, the Army Chief paid homage to the brave jawans whose names have been marked in the holy premises at a grand ceremony at the National Defence Academy’s Hot of Rememb. The Hot of Remembrance was built by cadets of the 10th to 17th Course NDA and since then it has been a symbol of bravery, courage and selfless service. The walls of the memorial narrate the unwavering courage, valour and countless sacrifices of the national defence academy alumni over the last 75 years.
