Air Marshal Tejinder Singh takes charge as Deputy Chief of Air Staff
jatinnews.com September 1, 2024 0Air Marshal Tejinder Singh today took charge as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS) of the Indian Air Force at the Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan). After getting the new appointment, the Air Marshal laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and paid homage to the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Tejinder joined the Air Force’s War Department on June 13, 1987. He is an A-class qualified flying instructor, an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College and National Defence College with more than 4,500 hours of flying. He has led a fighter squadron, radar station, a major fighter base and was the Air Officer Commanding of Jammu and Kashmir. Early Life and Education
Born on November 8, 1987 in Sikar, Rajasthan, Mona faced a major challenge early in her life after she was diagnosed with polio at the age of just nine months, which affected both her lower limbs. Despite this, she studied with conviction, obtained a degree in the arts, and is now pursuing a master’s degree in psychology through distance learning programmes.
A journey of patience and determination
At the age of 23, Mona took the bold decision to leave home and build an independent life. Overcoming many physical challenges along the way, he excelled in HR and marketing roles. In 2016, she focused on para athletics, where she made her state debut in the throw event and won gold medals in all three categories. He also participated in state-level para powerlifting and won multiple medals
Leading sitting volleyball in India
Apart from athletic success, Mona is also a pioneer in sitting volleyball for women in India. As a captain, she led the Rajasthan state team to a gold medal in the first National Sitting Volleyball Championship for women in 2019. She was selected for international tournaments but could not take part due to pregnancy.
Change to rifle shooting
In December 2021, Mona decided to do a private sport and opted for rifle shooting. Her natural talent was evident from the very beginning by winning the national silver medal in 2022. By mid-2023, he had already won a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the inaugural International World Cup and finished sixth at the fourth Asian Para Games. Mona’s devotion succeeded in her fourth international event, where she won a gold medal and Paralympics quota and set a new Asian record. This remarkable achievement has cemented his position as the top contender in para shooting at GEL.
