Administrative reforms to include digital empowerment of citizens

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology(Independent Charge), Minister of State for Earth Sciences (Independent Charge), PMO, Department of Atomic Energy and Minister of State for Space and Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh said in New Delhi today that administrative reforms will include digital empowerment of citizens. Which includes senior citizens and pensioners.

According to Jitendra Singh, citizens are at the centre of reforms initiated by the government and it is determined to ensure efficient public service delivery, create a robust grievance redressal system, enhance digital governance with new generation technology and ensure the welfare of citizens and lead an easier life to citizens.

The Union Minister directed the officials to work towards rationalising the multiplicity of employment rules and service rules with the current times and to include digital technology such as preparing it for the future. Dr Singh highlighted the need to create unique skill development products for capacity building of government departments. “It is our priority to continue the reforms and revise the training framework and procedures to improve the performance of government employees,” he said.

According to Dr Jitendra Singh, application of emerging technologies like General AI, ML, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality should be an integral part of our new-age reforms. He said that our aim is to use the i-GOT platform for government employees and create a self-motivated environment to take Mission Karmayogi to new heights. During the review, he also enquired about the functioning of the Digital Learning Lab at ISTM, New Delhi, which Dr. Singh in his earlier work.

Digital empowerment and ease of living of senior citizens by integrating pension rules is the guiding light of our department, said Dr Jitendra Singh while reviewing the progress of The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW). The Union Minister lauded the success of the National Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign for the welfare of pensioners and asked them to continue it with more enthusiasm and enthusiasm. Directing the officials about the future course of action of the department, he said, “We should continue to merge the bhavishya portal with the bank. The minister said counselling workshops need to continue before retirement to create awareness among pensioners and ease their retirement years. According to Dr Jitendra Singh, language should be a enabler and not a barrier and hence the use of bhasini to reach out to citizens in one’s mother tongue should be considered.
