Jatin News: A severe cyclonic storm is likely to make landfall in the Bay of Bengal on 23rd and 24th. Imd has issued an alert to fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts.
Due to the possibility of heavy rain coupled with strong winds and thunderstorms in the central Bay of Bengal, they have been barred from venturing into the sea on Thursday and those (fishermen) who are in the sea will have to return as soon as possible, said Sunanda, director of the IMD‘s Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre.

A low-pressure area formed over southwest Bay of Bengal yesterday on May 22, moving northeastwards and intensifying into a depression over central Bay of Bengal by the morning of May 24.

According to the imd’s earlier forecast, there are reports of the cyclone being affected in Maharashtra and Gujarat, including Odisha, from May 23 to 27. Therefore, the Meteorological Department can predict heavy rains in Gujarat and Mumbai by The 28th.
