Minimum Support Price (MSP) for COPRA for the 2025 season
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the minimum support price (MSP) of COPRA for the 2025 season. In order to provide remunerative prices to farmers, the government had announced in the Union Budget 2018-19 that the MSP of all mandatory crops would be fixed at a level of at least 1.5 times the all-India average cost of production. Accordingly, the MSP has been fixed at Rs 11,582/- per quintal for the appropriate average quality of milling copra and Rs 12,100 per quintal for the 2025 season for ball copra.
The MSP of milling copra and ball copra for the 2014 marketing season has been increased from Rs 5,250 per quintal and Rs 5,500 per quintal to Rs 11,582 and Rs 12,100 per quintal for the 2025 marketing season.
Higher MSP will not only ensure better remunerative returns to coconut farmers but also encourage farmers to increase copra production. read more
