In a historic step towards enhancing pension services, Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced the successful completion of the pilot management of the new Centralised Pension Payment System (CPPS) under the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995.

He noted that the pilot operations were completed on October 29 and 30, 2024, with the payment of pension of about Rs 11 crore for October 2024 to more than 49,0 EPS pensioners in Jammu, Srinagar and Karnal regions.

Earlier, while announcing the new CPPS regime, Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya had said that the approval of the Central Pension Payment System (CPPS) is an important milestone in the modernisation of the EPFO. By enabling pensioners to get pension from any bank, any branch in the country, this initiative addresses the long-standing challenges faced by the pensioners and ensures a seamless and efficient delivery system. This is an important step in our field.

The CPPS system will ensure distribution of pension across India even if the pensioner moves from one place to another or changes his bank or branch, there is no need to transfer pension payment orders (PPOs) from one office to another. This will be a big relief for pensioners who migrate to their villages after retirement.

The epfo’s ongoing IT modernisation project will be fully operational by January 2025 as part of the Central IT Enabled System (CITS 2.01) and will benefit over 78 lakh EPS pensioners of the EPFO.

EPFO has been continuously working towards improving services for EPS pensioners and the new CPPS regime is a major reform in this direction. read more
