The Union Health Secretary, Shri Apoorva Chandra, today held a bilateral meeting with the Global Fund on the sidelines of who’s 77th World Health Council in Geneva.

The Union Health Secretary acknowledged and appreciated the continued support of the Global Fund towards eradication of three diseases in India i.e. TUBERCULOSIS, HIV/AIDS and Malaria. He highlighted that most of the investment is made in capacity building, technical support and strengthening of lab systems in the programme, which contributes towards better sustainability. He called on the World Fund to continue supporting tb programs to strengthen the capacity of the public health system.

The Global Fund appreciated India’s commitment to tb eradication by creating public awareness and intensely monitored programmes using digital technology. It also noted that Indian innovative practices in tb programmes such as TrueNat machines, hand-held X-ray devices that can work in strong environments are ideal for the world to emulate
