In the sixth phase of the 2024 general elections, 59.06 per cent voting was recorded in 58 PCs till 7.45 pm.

Despite the hot weather in some parts of the country, voters were seen patiently queuing up to cast their votes. A large number of voters queued up at some polling stations at the scheduled time of polling.

Anantnag-Rajouri PC in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a complete peaceful polling with a voter turnout of 52.28 per cent till 7.45 pm, the highest in several decades. With this, the voting for the parliamentary seats of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has ended. In the ongoing general elections 2024, three PCs in the Valley namely Srinagar (38.49%), Baramulla (59.1%) and Anantnag-Rajouri (52.28 per cent till 7:45 pm) recorded polling, the highest in several decades.

Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand, NCT of Delhi, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal will go to polls in this phase. A total of 889 candidates were in the fray.

Polling was held smoothly and peacefully in all the constituencies. CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar and ECs Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Shri Sukhbir Singh Sandhu also cast their votes at their polling stations along with their families. They kept a close watch on every aspect of the election process and issued necessary directives.

An estimated voter turnout of 59.06% till 7.45 pm will be updated as per the state/PC/AC on the ECI's voter voting app.

An estimated voter turnout of 59.06% till 7.45 pm will be updated as per the state/PC/AC on the ECI’s voter voting app. In addition to statistics on state/PC/AC basis, the data will be provided in a phased manner. For the convenience of the shareholders, the Commission will issue another press note, with the voting numbers at 23.45 pm, even though live updates are available for the shareholders to directly verify the voter voting app.

Some polling parties go back after polling day

As per the laid down procedure, election papers are checked in the presence of candidates or their authorised polling agents a day after the polling day. If there is a re-poll, that too has been taken up. Depending on the geographical/logistical situation, some polling parties go back after polling day. After scrutiny and depending on the number of re-polling/schedule, the Commission will publish the updated polling number by 30.05.2024.

Polling was held simultaneously with parliamentary constituencies in 42 assembly constituencies of Odisha. With 60.07 per cent voter turnout recorded till 7.45 pm, the entire state was full of colourful cheers, exercising their preferred franchise. The commission’s joint efforts to register and motivate PVTG voters were successful as they posed with their fingers after casting their votes at polling booths in the coastal state.

After the end of the sixth phase, voting for the general elections 2024 in 28 States/UTs and 486 PCs has been completed. The general elections to 105 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha assembly constituencies have also ended. The next and last phase (seventh phase) of polling will be held on June 1, 2024 in 57 PCs.
