15 lakh trees to be planted on Independence Day 2024 as part of ‘Ek Pad Maa Ke Naam’ campaign
On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2024, the Ministry of Defence will launch a tree plantation drive across the country. The tree plantation drive is part of the ‘Ek Paid Ma Ke Naam’ campaign and will be conducted through the three services and related institutions like DRDO, Defence PSU, CGDA, NCC, Sainik School, Ordnance Factory.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, had launched the ‘Ek Pad Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, and urged everyone in India and around the world to plant a tree as a tribute to the mothers.
Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh also participated in the campaign and planted trees in the memory of his mother. He called upon the people to join this campaign for the protection of nature and actively contribute to making the movement for the protection of the environment more effective and dynamic. read more
